TouchMath

In class we have been learning the TouchMath touchpoints. The students have really liked it! TouchMath is where the students touch the numbers as they count: each single dot one time and the dot with the circle around it twice. It is very helpful when they are adding (especially if there are 3 or more numbers to add together). It would be great to review these touchpoints at home. Ask your child to show you how it works!

Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,
Welcome to Second Grade! It is going to be a great year. It is an honor to be teaching your student along with a whole class of unique and wonderful second graders. Listed below are a few important items to help us get off to a good start.
Class Rules:
In our class there are a few rules to keep things running smoothly. Please discuss these rules at home. It is important to have parent support with this!
Keep your hands and feet to yourself
Please listen while others are speaking to the class.
Follow instructions the first time asked.
Please walk.
Be nice to everyone.
Keep our school and classroom clean.
Raise your hand before speaking.

Homework:
During the school day we will cover many things. It is very helpful to the students for the concepts and ideas we learn at school to be reviewed at home. Each Monday the students will receive a homework packet. This packet will consist of daily reading (20 min. at night), daily spelling, and a math review. The homework packets are due each Friday. Thank you for your help and support with this.

Volunteers:
I would love to have you come and help in our classroom! If you are interested in coming in and helping with the kids or “to-dos” for our class please let me know and we can work out a time that will work well! Thank you in advance for your help!
I look forward to a great year of hard work, learning, and fun! Thank you for all of your support! Let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hoxer
